The Oregon Ducks are the athletic teams of the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon
. The ducks play in American football as well as basketball in the Pacific-12 Conference, a Division 1-A League. The ducks for their football and Athletics program are known. Just the latter helped the city of Eugene, that she became known as “Track town, United States”. There are regular trials (trials) for the Olympic Games or World Championships. There are special rivalry with the Oregon State Beavers (the so-called civil wars) and the Washington Huskies.

The University of Oregon has a football team since 1893 and 1894 played their first official game against Albany College. In 1919 the football team shared its training facility and its playing field with the Athletics team. in 1967, the Autzen was then completed stage. In this stadium, which almost 55,000 spectators, the football team will be played out since then. in 1917, the ducks won their first Bowl, the Rose Bowl against the University of Pennsylvania, under the former head coach Hugo Bezdek. Meanwhile, the ducks were four more times in the Rose Bowl (1920, 1957, 1995 and most recently 2010). In 2002, the ducks of also have the Fiesta Bowl against the won Colorado Buffaloes.
Overall, the ducks won eight Conference titles. Five times the Pacific Coast Conference (1919, 1933, 1948 and 1957), as well as three times the PAC-10-Conference (1994, 2001, 2009). In the year 2000, the ducks had the title share with the Oregon State Beavers and the Washington Huskies. The most famous protege was Steve Prefontaine, who co-founded later the company Nike and Eugene in which brought especially the Olympic trials and the NCA Championships Hayward Field. Steve Preforntaine trained in the early 1970s in Eugene. He held 13 American records and lost only three races in his own stadium, and only once at the NCAA Championship. He won seven national titles during his career. Today the Prefontaine will be held every year Classic at Howard field. Bill Bowerman retired in 1973 and his assistant Bill Dellinger became the new head coach.
The Athletics program has won many NCAA titles across almost all disciplines and is the only Division with NCAA titles for the Oregon Ducks next to the basketball court and the football team. The success of the program led to the nickname of the city of Eugene, “Track town, United States”.
The Oregon Ducks baseball team played in 1877 their first game, a year after the founding of the University. in 1981, the baseball program for cost reasons was set, but 26 years later again in 2007 set up. The ducks played their first game back in 2009. Head coach George is currently hoarding, the Cal State Fullerton in 2004 led to an NCAA title.

The Oregon Ducks live in particular the Oregon internal rivalry against the Oregon State Beavers. This rivalry is called “Civil War”. The football teams play in this rivalry the Platypus trophy. The Platypus is half duck (mascot of the ducks) and half Beaver (mascot of the Oregon State Beavers). The trophy itself was lost from 1962 to 2005. In addition to the rivalry with the Oregon State Beavers, the ducks have still a rivalry against the Washington Huskies. This rivalry was created in 1948, when the ducks and the California Golden had to share the Pacific Coast Conference title beavers, and voted the Washington Huskies for the Golden Bears Rose Bowl participants. A few years later attempted to remove Oregon, Oregon State and Washington State of the PAC-10 Conference, so that the Huskies could rise no influence. This failed however.
